HRH moving off shed
Apart from an early two years spent at Camden from new in 1937 until 1939 "Princess Mary " was a Polmadie engine from 1939 until withdrawal in October of 1963 , but in 1961 the earlier spread of the " Duchesses " over Depots at Polmadie , Crewe , Carlisle , Camden and Edge Hill was ended with a number being reallocated primarily to Willesden in 1962 as Camden took on its new role as a Diesel Depot.
The " Duchesses " remaining at Polmadie were , however , infrequent visitors to Euston during these later years , those Scottish based engines mainly working night time sleeper services down to Crewe together with fast fitted daytime freights and heavy milk traffic.
In December of 1962 the first three withdrawals of the class took place , with " Coronation " herself being condemnd in December of 1963 .
