No.46229 Duchess of Hamilton in 1959/60 on ‘The Ulster Express’ near Rugeley with the power station in the background. The AWS and LMS yellow/black style lining were applied in October 1959. On withdrawal it was purchased by Butlins and was exhibited at their Minehead holiday camp until it was “rescued” by the National Railway Museum. After restoration to working order in 1989 No.46229 returned to the mainline for seven years until its boiler ticket expired in 1996. Its streamlined casing was restored at Tyseley Locomotive Works between 2005 and 2009 andDuchess of Hamilton is currently a static exhibit at York.
