6225 1938-08-02 Motherwell
The Lanarkshire town of Motherwell was not exactly a top destination for photographers! It's a shame that in August 1938, colour film was in its infancy because this would have made a stunning colour image. The advertising signs would have been in eye-catching hues let alone the crimson lake livery of 'Duchess of Gloucester'. LMS 6225 was built at Crewe in May 1938 and would be withdrawn in Oct. 1964 as BR No. 46225. p.s. It's pretty darn good even in monochrome! p.p.s Look at those immaculate platforms...
