We are now five months into the BR era, but there's liitle to indicate the fact in this May 1948 photograph of 'City of St. Albans'. It is still very much in LMS livery, at the helm of an express at Ashton in Northamptonshire. LMS Stanier 'Coronation' 4-6-2 No. 6253 was built at Crewe in Sept. 1946 and was withdrawn in May 1963.
