Immaculate ‘Coronation’ No 46232 ‘Duchess of Montrose’ takes the up ‘Royal Scot’ southwards from Carlisle in August 1952. At this time the Polmadie LMS Pacifics were working trains into England; in later years, engine changing took place at Carlisle.
