Stanier ‘Coronation’ No. 46235 City of Birmingham at Golborne heading south with a loaded milk train, probably in early 1964. As usual, the guard’s accommodation is in the middle of the train, because at speed it would swing around too much if at the rear. In this instance it is a 6-wheeled LM&SR ‘Stove R’, built in the late 1930s. No. 46235 was selected for preservation under the British Railways Board Official List and remains in the same condition as when it was withdrawn, unlike the other two preserved ‘Coronations.
