52275 1956-03 Bolton MPD
The entire former Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway operations would probably have virtually ground to a halt had it not been for the 484 of Sir John Aspinall's '27' class of 0-6-0s. Happy on both freight and passenger workings, this sturdy class were built over a 29-year period from 1889 to 1918. The final withdrawals, as with 52275 pictured here at Bolton MPD, were in 1962. Photo dated March 1956.
