NER A8 4-6-2T No 69870 at Darlington shed in the early 1950s. That is part of its motion roped to the handrail, so no doubt it is en-route to the works. Very interestingly there is an enamel LNER shed allocation plate on its buffer beam (W Aland) for West Auckland later 51F) - these were normally fixed at the rear of the cab roof on tender engines and I have never seen one sited on a front buffer beam before.
