72002 1961-09-09 Preston Skew Bridge
With a 1S69 reporting number 72002 Clan Campbell on the West Coast main line. Although constructed at Crewe, the class also used components fabricated at Horwich and Derby with the first of the class of ten entering service in December 1951. Although a further fifteen had been planned, and even allocated names, their proposed construction was cancelled so the Scottish Region didn't get its ten nor did the Southern Region get its five! After being condemned from Polmadie in December 1962 this engine and four classmates were stored out of use there before being cut up at Darlington in early 1964.
