Stewarts Lane MPD is situated in Battersea and surrounded by a labyrinth of lines, one crossing the depot on a viaduct as can be seen in this view. Ex-South Eastern & Chatham Railway Maunsell 'D1' 31545 has been impeccably 'bulled up' even to the extent of polishing the brass window surrounds! It had been allocated to take the 'London, Chatham and Dover' SLS railtour to Dover and Folkestone and return. Sunday 19th May 1957.
