D6981 1965-08-07 Cardiff Newtown

English Electric Type 3 No D6981 passes Newtown, Cardiff with four steam locos being taken for scrap on 7th August 1965.
The rear one is 6661 destined for Wards Briton Ferry as it is seen in another photo. Therefore it is likely that they are all destined for Swansea area scrapyards. To me they look like a Hall, 28xx and a 94xx Hall. 7923 Speke Hall has been identified as the leading loco and this went to G Cohen, Morriston, being seen at Swansea East Dock on 15th August. This was in store at Cardiff East Dock until 5th August as was 6661 so this looks like a trip from there to Swansea East Dock. Interestingly the EE type 3 looks practically unused despite being officially on the books since May 1965.
