92006 1960-09-11 Swindon

BR 9F 2-10-0 No 92006 after being fitted with a double-chimney ex-works at Swindon on September 11, 1960.

Peter Kerslake adds "92006 is fresh from a visit to Swindon Works following its spell at Bath Green Park during 1960 on the Somerset and Dorset in an effort to reduce the high level of double-heading on the line from Bath to Bournemouth.
Originally allocated to Newport Ebbw Vale from newly built at Crewe in January 1954, 92006 together with seven other new 9Fs were not favourably received there and their planned duties on the iron ore freights were curtailed due to brake and regulator problems and they were a stored out of service for several months before being transferred away."
