Withdrawn ex-Kirkby in Ashfield locomotives standing on the south side of the closed Mansfield shed. The terraced houses on Bradder Street ran along the back of the shed.
Tony Saville adds "This picture suggests 40195 was initially stored (chimney covered over) but she was subsequently withdrawn on 25/11/1961 and scrapped in September 1963 in Spondon. Her demise is odd as she is recorded as transferred to Southport AFTER withdrawal but was stored at Hellifield then scrapped.
40146 was not withdrawn until a year later on 04/08/1962 and scrapped in April 1963 so is perhaps also stored (despite being coaled) so the picture might be dated late 1961".
