31325 1956-10 Stewarts Lane MPD
Ex-South Eastern & Chatham Railway Wainwright 'P' class 0-6-0 Tank No. 31325. Built at Ashford in July 1910 as SE&CR No. 325 and withdrawn in Mar. 1960. Only eight of the 'P' class were built and were not one of Harry Wainwright's best designs, being somewhat underpowered. Seen here is scruffy 31325 at Stewarts Lane MPD in October 1956 wher some wag has placed a lopsided 'Bournemouth' headboard on the top lamp bracket! They pottered about sheds, sidings and docks but although they were of very limited capability the class survived until 1955-61. Amazingly, 50% of the class are preserved! © Ken Widd-SA Collection
