1027 1960c Bradford on Avon
On a five coach rake of SR coaches plus a van of similar origin.Looking to be in a reasonable condition here , but having lost its nameplates for some unexplained reason , Bristol Bath Road's 1027 " County of Stafford " was one of six " Counties " allocated to that Depot in the early ' fifties , that Depot and Shrewsbury each having that number on their respective books , the largest allocations at that time , but my 1956 shedbook shows 1027 to be at Neyland by 1956 , but it returned very late in 1959 for nine months so this image is probably that winter. The fireman is taking a break as they head through the Avon Valley , a " North to West " line which provided a through route from the North and Wales down to Westbury and Weymouth .
