1008 1950s Aynho
A lovely clear shot of Chester's 1008, "County of Cardigan", well turned out by the look of things and nicely captured on film hauling SR stock in this delightful overhead image probably obtained from the station footbridge.
Chester had three "Counties" on its allocation in the mid 'fifties, a number equalled by Penzance , with Shrewsbury and Bristol Bath Road having the most, with six at each of those two locations, whilst the remaining twelve could be found at Swindon and Truro with two each whilst there were four at Plymouth's Laira and four at Neyland as well.
Note the cast iron Lions Heads on the canopies, I seem to recall one went through Great Central Railwayana's auction.
