Westerns D1005, D1038 & D1043 were reported with 1014 at Swindon Works on that date and this is not D1038 nor D1043 as they had lower positioned overhead warning flashes and cabside clips for drivers names. Therefore this is D1005 Western Venturer. The county has an unusual replacement cabside numberplate without a raised rim. It may even be wooden with raised numerals painted to look like brass. It was withdrawn in April of that year so may not have been steamed again despite its excellent external condition.
