1011 1961 Bristol Temple Meads

Bristol Bath Road's 1011, "County of Chester " runs into Temple Meads from the northern side with a nicely presented " C 37 " Reporting Number indicating a down Plymouth working .
Although the engine is herself looking rather grubby the smokebox indictes a recent visit to Swindon Works and there are two strange looking fitments above and below the handrail which may be some form of experimental device , but I cannot explain them .
The two lads on the left may be young cleaners on their way over to Bath Road shed and with their " drainpipe trousers" they certainly don't look like the more usual enthusiasts of that period in time
