The first of her class, a work stained 1000 "County of Middlesex" takes the through road here at Tiverton Junction, between Taunton and Exeter St. Davids on the 23rd. of February 1963 at the head of an impressive Down express parcels working with what looks like a milk tank wagon leading the formation.
By this date three of the class had already been withdrawn during the previous year, with 1011 "County of Chester" being the last to remain in service until 1964.

Tiverton Junction is not the same site as Tiverton Parkway. The junction station was to the south of the present Parkway railway station
