1010 1955-09-08 Truro
Laira's 1010 , " County of Caernarvon " makes an impressive picture here , running into Truro with the Paddington bound " Cornish Riviera ".
The engine will have worked from Penzance , but will be relieved at Plymouth North Road by the customary " King " for its onward non stop run up to the Capital.
With their reputation for good hill climbing capabilities the " County " class engines based at Laira and within Cornwall were favourites for such tightly timed workings such as this and one would often be rostered to the " Cornish Riviera " working in both directions between Plymouth and Penzance.
