1010 1960s Swindon
Out of use at Swindon Carriage shed. It arrived in September 1959 from 83C Exeter and was transferred to Neyland in September 1960.
Her " Glory Days " in the far West now ended , and having been displaced from her longstanding home at Plymouth's Laira shed in October of 1959 by the incoming Diesels , 1010 , " County of Caernarvon " looks in poor shape here at Swindon , probably not long before being condemned .
Whilst at Laira this particular one of their four " Counties " was put to good use on express pasenger workings to Paddington , in addition to heavy fast freights northwards to Bristol and additionally on the heavily loaded daily milk workings for which the " Counties " invariably seemed to be the chosen form of motive power by the local Running Foremen at Laira as well as those down at Penzance, the starting point of such milk workings
There were five of the class in Cornwall in mid 1956 , the remaining twenty five being spread over no less than six other Motive Power Depots namely Shrewsbury , Bristol , Swindon , Chester , Neyland and of course Laira.
