NCB 55 1950s Minto Colliery, Brigghills near Lochgelly

NCB 55 1950s Minto Colliery, Brigghills near Lochgelly

NCB 0-6-0ST shunting at a colliery in the 1950s. It has a rectangular worksplate and porthole cab side windows so is either an early Barclay or a Grant Richie similar type (although the latter appeared to have oval works plates).
The pit building has a date of 1914 cast into the brickwork.

We think this is Minto Colliery, Brigghills in which case the loco must be AB 743 of 1894 as this was the only six coupled tank working here. It left in 1961 and was scrapped c1962 at the central workshops at Cowdenbeath.
