No 47 1968-03 Cowdenbeath
An ex-works Barclay at Cowdenbeath Central Workshops (AB 2157/1943) had been stored at Kinglassie prior to overhaul. Storage continued at Cowdenbeath for some time as there were no ‘vacancies’ in the area. 1968. It seemed the engine was destined not to find active service as it ended up at Kinneil Colliery Bo’ness in the early 1970s where it was cannibalised to supply spare parts for the working Barclay, No 21 (AB 2292/1951). Despite the loss of parts No 47 was eventually acquired by a private railway museum in Essex.
