Out of use at the closed Rothes Colliery near Thornton in early 1968, NCB No 61, a Grant Ritchie 0-4-0ST. This locomotive (GR 272/1894) was removed from Rothes by low loader in November 1969 and taken to Thomas Muir’s scrapyard at Easter Balbeggie a short distance away. Exactly when it was broken up is not known but it was still intact there in summer 1974.
