Another day trip to the Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway, this time from Birmingham run by the SLS on 26th May 1968. The route was a little more adventurous than BR tours, running via Stockport,strong /strongBolton, Blackburn and then to Carnforth via Hellifield (with a quick trip to Ulverston and back). Metro-Vic No. D5717 took over from there, previous motive power being Class '5' No. 44949 from Stockport and English Electric Type '4' No. D316 for the Ulverston branch. No. D5717 was stored out of use at Kingmoor in June and was withdrawn in September 1968.
