63936 1962 Grimsby Littlefield Lane Crossing
Great Northern Railway designed Gresley 'O2' 63936 heads a train of Iron Ore empties on former GCR metals at Grimsby in Lincolnshire. It is passing Littlefield Lane crossing heading east, this was a favourite viewpoint for 'spotters' and photographers over the years. The Iron Ore empties train is just about to turn (within ½ mile) and go down the East Lincs line to Louth and then via Boston, Spalding and Werrington Junction (north of Peterborough) on its journey back to the High Dyke. Photo taken in early 1962.
