63934 1957 Doncaster MPD

A particularly steamy and atmospheric picture of GNR designed Gresley 'O2' class No. 63934 taken at Doncaster MPD in 1957. Sixty seven of these fine, unheralded locomotves were built (with various modificaions) over an extended period from 1918 to 1943. This 3-cyl. class introduced Gresley's revolutionary conjugated valve gear. 63934 was built at Doncaster in Nov. 1923 as LNER No. 3489 and was withdrawn in July 1962.
