NSR 55 1920 Manchester London Road

NSR 55 1920 Manchester London Road

North Staffordshire Railway J.H.Adams 'K' class 4-4-2 Tank No. 55. Built at Stoke in December 1911 and withdrawn in November 1933 as LMS No. 2183.

The unmistakeable arched roofs of Manchester London Road Station provide a fine setting for 55 and crewman in 1920. The station was jointly built and owned by the L&NWR and the M&SLR (later GCR). The North Staffordshire Railway enjoyed running rights into London Road as can be seen here. Note that Staffordshire is abbreviated to Stafford in the livery of all their fleet. It saved quite a bit of painting over the years I expect!
