Peter Kerslake says My picture of this unidentified Grange illustrates only too well how bad things had become by the last months of Western Region steam here in the Gloucester area as I do not seem to have been able to identify the engine portrayed as it appears to have lost all its numberplates together with its nameplates as well. The freightis heading Northwards up the Gloucester loop line, with the Midland Region line down into Gloucester Eastgate station visible in the background. This location today is vastly overgrown, with tres and bushes encroaching right up to both sides of the loop line, whilst the line down to Eastgate has long since vanished, as has that station, although the two bridges are still there - if you can find them ! Note the Coal Concentration Depot coal hoppers in the train
