6845 1959-06-27 Plymouth
Doubtless having worked to here at Plymouth right through from Penzance, 6845 Paviland Grange has a mixture of coaching stock in her train, with what looks like a Gresley teak bodied coach third and forth in the formation the leading coach is a GWR 'Toplight' and is followed by a LMS Stanier designed vehicle, I would suggest from the mixed coaching stock that this is a northbound express rather than one destined for Paddington. Penzance usually kept their main line engines in fine condition, but this one appears uncared for, which is unusual. This is the end of this particular run for this engine and it will now be replaced on this working here at North Road station but following a spell on Laira shed 6845 will later work back home into Cornwall where hopefully the Penzance cleaners can sort things out! The line on the extreme left runs down to Millbay freight yards and the former G.W.R. Millbay Docks from where the Ocean Mail Boat Trains began their fast non stop runs up to Paddington.
