67194 1956-05-05 Stratford MPD

Ex-Great Eastern Railway J. Holden 'F5' class 2-4-2 Tank No. 67194. Built at Stratford in October 1904 as GER No. 781 and withdrawn in October 1956.

Built as GER class 'M15' (LNER 'F4') the class were noted for high fuel consumption and were appropriately nicknamed 'Gobblers'. They were rebuilt to class 'F5' with Stephenson (instead of Joy) valve gear and higher boiler pressure and this was deemed to be an improvement. 67194 is seen at Stratford MPD in May 1956 and is probably already out of use, but she would not be officially withdrawn until October that year.
