Ex-LNER Gresley 'A3' class 4-6-2 No. 60091 'Captain Cuttle'. Built at Doncaster in September 1928 as LNER No. 2745 and withdrawn in October 1964.

This location proved elusive for a while but the very distinctive architecture of St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church was to prove decisive! This is Portobello on the southern approach to Edinburgh with a fine view of 'Captain Cuttle' with a northbound express probably from Carlisle via the Waverley route.
