Ex-LNER Gresley 'A4' class 4-6-2 No. 60031 'Golden Plover'. Built at Doncaster in October 1937 as LNER No. 4497 and withdrawn in October 1965.

The scene inside Perth MPD in July 1965 finds 'Golden Plover' undergoing some attention. The unusually drab appearance of the locomotive suggests it may already be withdrawn from service because the A4s for the Aberdeen to Glasgow expresses were usually immaculately clean.
