LNER Diagram 97 Sentinel Steam Railcar No. 2218 'Telegraph'. Built by Sentinel of Shrewsbury in Aug. 1929 and Withdrawn in Dec. 1944. The soldiers in period uniform at the north end of York Station would indicate that 'Telegraph' may have been on a York to Catterick working. Catterick being one of the largest army barracks in Britain. Good photographs of Sentinel railcars are thin on the ground but this September 1929 view is a cracker!
