Ex-LNER Gresley 'A3' class 4-6-2 No. 60077 'The White Knight'. Built by NBL of Glasgow in Oct. 1924 as LNER No. 2576, rebuilt from class 'A1' to class 'A3' in July 1943 and withdrawn in July 1964. Prior to being fitted with Kylchap exhausts, double chimneys and the trough style of smoke deflectors, Gresley's A3s seldom seemed to have any problems with 'drifting smoke'. 60077 appears to be no exception when seen with an up express made up of Southern Region rolling stock at York Holgate in August 1952.
