64230 1951-06-24 Boston shed
Railway facilities at Boston in Lincolnshire had been in situ since 1848. These included one of the Great Northern Railway's earliest locomotive workshops, later phased out when Doncaster 'Plant' opened in 1853. Lines here were shared by the MS&LR/GCR and here's a fine portrait taken in June 1951 of ex-GCR Robinson 'Pom-Pom' or 'J11' 0-6-0 No. 64230. It was built at Gorton in Oct. 1902 as GCR No. 1043 and was withdrawn in Oct. 1957.
