60017 1961 Leeds Central

It is hard to imagine that Leeds once boasted three major railway stations, 'New', 'Wellington' and 'Central' and it is the latter, closed in May 1967, that is featured here. Immaculate ex-LNER Gresley 'A4' 60017 'Silver Fox' is ready to depart for King's Cross via Wakefield and will join the ECML at Doncaster. Photograph taken in 1961.
