On a lovely day, the now preserved ex-LNER Gresley 'A4' 60019 'Bittern' head an up Pullman express away from York. It is passing the now abandoned Holgate platforms that had been dedicated for race day traffic only. The proliferation of private motor cars had rendered this facility redundant by 1962 when this fine image was taken.
