60024 1966-07-13 Auchterader Viaduct
The 'swansong of Sir Nigel Gresley's magnificent 'A4s' was to come in Scotland, in particular to witness the Aberdeen to Glasgow expresses. These events, along with their excellent external appearance drew photographers in droves. As a further bonus, the Scottish landscapes were undoubtedly moe photogenic than the ECML! Crossing Auchterader Viaduct in Perthshire, 60024 'Kingfisher' is in charge of the 17:15 Aberdeen to Glasgow Buchanan Street. This is July 1966 and it still looks every inch the thoroughbred even though she will be withdrawn within three months.
