A superb April 1956 portrait of ex-LNER Gresley D49/2 No. 62775 'The Tynedale'. The twenty nine D49/2s were built with rotary cam operated Lentz poppet valves, seen clearly in this view. It is in the loco yard at York North MPD and will have worked in from Leeds, Harrogate or maybe Hull. 62775 was built at Darlington in Feb. 1935 as LNER No. 377 and was withdrawn in Dec. 1958.
