60006 1950s King's Cross

A sight to gladden the heart! Sir Nigel Gresley's ex-LNER A4 Pacific No. 60006 'Sir Ralph Wedgwood', simmering impatiently, graces the platform at King's Cross awaiting departure with the 'Yorkshire Pullman' in this undated 1950s image. 60006 was built at Doncaster in Jan. 1938 as LNER No. 4466 and was originally named 'Herring Gull' until Dec. 1943. Withdrawal came in Sept. 1965.
