75026 1967-07-14 Greenholme

BR double chimney Standard Class 4MT 4-6-0 No 75026 banks a down goods up Shap at Greenholme on July 14, 1967.

Peter Kerslake says "A volcanic smoke effect here from Standard 75026 as she banks a working at Greenholme and her fireman is clearly hoping that his efforts are appreciated by Mr Hepburn with even the wind blowing the right way and not blanketing everything out!
Delivered newly built in 1954 to Plymouth's Laira depot in company with 75025 and 75028 the trio were rostered to freight workings in the far Westcountry but their primary role was acting as pilot engines by double heading on passenger workings over the South Devon banks between Plymouth and Newton Abbot.
These duties ended as the Diesels arrived and 75026 was thereafter used on the Cambrian system for a number of years until steam workings ceased when she was used as seen here on banking duties over the Fells."
