75023 1964-10-03 Morfa Mawddach
It is low tide as a rather work stained 75023 approaches Morfa Mawddach station and puts a smokescreen across Barmouth Bay after leaving Barmouth. By this late date the end was nigh for the Standard Class 4 locomotives working the Cambrian network, and a number were shortly to be transferred away to end their days on banking duties over the Northern Fells.
Formerly Barmouth Junction, the station had initially been known as Barmouth Ferry from its beginning until 1871 and was renamed again by British Railways in 1960 as Morfa Mawddach.
