75029 1967 east of Penmaenpool
With a 6C Croes Newydd shed plate which dates it to after September 1963. The location of this picture is not Glandyfi as was suspected. It is, in fact, east of Penmaenpool on the Barmouth Junction to Ruabon line in an area known as Gors Goch probably photographed from Yr-Ynys farm track. It shows Croes Newydd allocated BR Standard 4MT class 4-6-0 No 75029 heading a Barmouth to Ruabon stopper. The fields on the right of the picture were covered by the tide until the middle of the 19th century when farmers transformed the land into pasture by building a wall and carrying soil onto the land by horse & cart. The wall was breached in 1926 and was not reclaimed until 1978 when the tidal defence wall was rebuilt. today It is extremely fertile land used for grazing and silage.
