Last Cambrian Coast Express complete with wreath and headboard
Peter Kerslake says "The last day of the celebrated 'Cambrian Coast Express' and 75021 is making its presence felt here as it pauses at Welshpool on the final afternoon down working, doing its best to pollute the scene as much as possible, by accident or design I wonder?
For its working that day from Shrewsbury to Aberystwyth a stalwart had made an improvised Headboard for the front buffer beam with the wreath seen here on the front coupling initially adorning the smokebox door when leaving Shrewsbury, but moved here at Welshpool and giving way to the customary '917' 'Cambrian' Reporting Number borne from here to Aberystwyth that final day."
