Ex-London, Brighton & South Coast Railway R.Billinton/D.Marsh 'C2X' class 0-6-0 No. 32442. Built by Vulcan Foundry of Newton-le-Willows in May 1893 as LB&SCR No. 442 and withdrawn in February 1960.

Marsh rebuilt the fifty-five Billinton's 'C2s' with larger boilers and an extended smokebox, creating the 'C2X' class. Successful and powerful, they ran very high mileages in service, one even acheived over 1.3 million miles. 32442 is seen here in 1954 with an interesting rake of stock, at Preston Park in Brighton.
