Something of a preservation legend supposedly due to its volcanic exhaust, ex-Southern Rly. Bulleid 'West Country' class 34067 'Tangmere' on a dreary 1950s day at Exeter Central Station.

Peter Kerslake says "This view is looking eastwards out to Exmouth Junction depot and "Tangmere" has doubtless worked down to here at Exeter Central, has come off its train, and is now about to back out to the depot not too far away.
The light "Pacifics" were the largest of the Southern's engines permitted to work further westwards from here and were allowed to take a maximum of six coaches between here and Exeter St. Davids on its fearsome one in thirty seven gradient."
