The sixty William Adams 'O2' class built for the London & South Western Railway had long, distinguished and complex careers. This circa 1910 view of L&SWR 222 and crew at Exmouth Junction MPD is shown because poor No. 222 had the very dubious distintion of being the first 'O2' to be withdrawn in Feb. 1933 almost thirty years before the last in 1962!
