30448 1960c Yeovil Town MPD
The Southerns' MPD at Yeovil was situated in an attractive location on the edge of town. The water tank above the rear of the shed was built in 1959 when the ex GWR shed at Yeovil Pen Mill closed and the engines and men joined us at Yeovil Town. This weary-looking Urie 'King Arthur' No. 30448 'Sir Tristram' could certainly have been cleaned to good effect but as in so many cases, there was little will or incentive to do so. 30448's demise came in August 1960.
