A really lovely photograph of one of Briain's finest 4-4-0 classes, Richard Maunsell's 'V' or 'Schools' class No. 30937 'Epsom'. It is heading the 9.15am Charing Cross to Margate train in July 1953. The only unredeeming feature is the ugly (and ineffective on the 'Schools') LeMaitre chimney that spoils the elegance of the 20 class members thus fitted. 'Epsom' was a 1935 product of Eastleigh and was withdrawn in 1962.
